At his age, I imagine he’s already dipped into the gene pool. If the story I read was accurate that his ‘ship’ is steam powered, I don’t see him getting more than ten feet from the launch pad.

A shame no one was able to convince this dum dum of the fact that 1800 feet is too low to observe the earth’s curvature, let alone prove the earth is flat. On the upside, his subscription to “Modern Luddites” was just automatically renewed for life.

Im totally on board with this, tell me when and where, I got lawn chairs and a cooler full of beer.

Paraphrasing Rack Jite-—
I can understand flat-earther’s benighted, ignorant disregard for physics, it’s their pride in it that passes me by.

That might also be called “sanity” —if he had any.

A California man who planned to launch himself 1,800 feet high Saturday in a homemade scrap-metal rocket in an effort to prove that Earth is flat Why not simply charter an airplane or buy any airline ticket going anywhere.

The Priest of the Balloon
His training for the stunt included jungle survival and mountain climbing courses,
but apparently did not include instruction on use of his GPS - in a telephone call he made during the flight, he stated that if someone could just explain how to use his GPS he could relay his position to rescuers.

No, I was talking of your use of the ichthys symbol. It was used by Christians when the Roman Empire was trying to exterminate them.

Or he cannot simply launch a camera on a balloon? Since he's willing to settle for an altitude of only 1,800 feet, that's well within Estes model rocket territory. Just put a camera in the nose cone.

I can write a short version of the event right now: BOOM. Shrieks. Fire. Splat. Debris and DNA everywhere. Sirens. Cleanup. Helluva show.

I hate to be dense but how does that prove the Earth is flat, if he was only going to 1800 ft? I climb hills higher than 1800 ft. Yes, but his goal it to prove the Earth is flat. If he goes higher than 1800 ft., he will fail , so why go further than 1800 ft. ?
