Interesting thread, proud to be with y’all. 1970 — NAS Corpus Christi (CNAVAVANTRA) mess hall (good stuff); 1971-1972 — aboard DE-1022, homeport Naples, Italy; ASW (chasing Soviet subs from one end of the med to the other); wrote tons of enemy sighting reports. They really did feed us “forward deployed” units quite well. Out to sea 75% (out three weeks,and visited ancient Rome sites about every week ashore).

1955 Ellington AFB, Houston, Texas, Navigator training. Thanksgiving dinner at the Officers’ Club. Very good. Rented a Stinson Voyager and flew home to visit my wife’s family in Oklahoma and my family in Arkansas for Christmas.
