First Thanksgiving I was in BASIC. First Christmas I got to go home because I had just finished AIT and was headed for Germany afterward.
Wait... must’ve been in AIT for both. AIT was at least six weeks. Been a long time.
Went home to central MA from Governor’s Island NYC as I was in electronics technician “A” school for the Coast Guard in 1971.
