North Korea’s Packing Illegal Firepower On Border, And It’s Making South Korea Uneasy

When a North Korean soldier slipped into South Korea in the Joint Security Area (JSA) at the Demilitarized Zone Monday, four of his comrades let loose a barrage of bullets, firing roughly 40 rounds at the man. He was hit five times before he collapsed in a pile of leaves on the southern side. The soldier was airlifted to a South Korean medical facility, where he remains in critical condition.
While South Korea is doing all that it can to save the wounded soldiers life, Seoul is also deeply troubled by other aspects of the recent incident.
The North Korean troops who attempted to gun down the defector did so with assault rifles, specifically AK-47s. This is a violation of the armistice agreement, a South Korean military official told the Korea JoongAng Daily, adding, We plan to lodge a serious protest against North Korea through the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission.
Cheong Wa Dae the Blue House has yet to officially accuse North Korea of violating the armistice.
Only handguns are allowed in the JSA. Furthermore, the South is investigating whether North Korea fired into South Korea, which would also constitute a violation of the agreement made in the aftermath of the Korean War. It is, however, particularly disconcerting that the North Korean guards are carrying heavier firepower than their South Korean counterparts.

Illegal, according to whom? Kim Jong “short and fat” just has to declare what they did legal, and it is - in North Korea. He is a dictator, after all.

Interesting how N.Korea makes such move to keep the focus on them...while Russia, Iran and Turkey continue to move about on the world stage. Seems to me they’re all playing off each others hands..hand in glove.

The South could crush the North by themselves without much difficulty. Do you consider losing millions of residents to nuclear, biological, chemical or conventional attack much difficulty? The DPRK military may go down but they can flatten South Korea's population centers.

I didn’t know that Kimchee produced that much gas.

Do you consider losing millions of residents to nuclear, biological, chemical or conventional attack much difficulty? The North doesn't have the capacity to lauch a nuclear missle. Any other missle launch would have to be part of a first strike by the Norks and I think there is zero chance of that. And even if they did, I think the Aegis system could take them out. That leaves artillery which is a problem, but a manageable one.

Illegal weapons! Just watch the UN jump all over them for this! Get the popcorn out.

Uh... I don't share your confidence. The North Koreans absolutely have missiles accurate enough to hit South Korea and there's clear evidence they've miniaturized warheads to fit on top of them. Can they assemble the full missile? I have no idea but I wouldn't put money on them not being able to. For that matter, I don't see nosecone issues being a major hurdle to them being able to hit an American city or five in the near future.
BUT... even if you're right. Let's say no missiles can get through. The Norks have elaborate infilitrafion networks set up - tunnels, minisubs, etc. to smuggle men and contraband into South Korea. The Norks don't need missiles to hit Seoul - they just need a truck bomb. Can they pull it off? Maybe yes maybe no, but they're smart enough and advanced enough that that's a bet I wouldn't want to take.

It's time for a "SHOW OF FORCE"
by launching a MIRV Conventional warhead from the United States,
to strike both Chick-Do-Range and Koon-nie Range off the west coast of South Korea, at the same time,
and make sure the re-entry phase happens at night time for South Korea.
The North Koreans have sped watching both of those ranges, and they WILL
'Get the message' !
Then target ALL military targets in North Korea, and wait and watch !
It's time to SOLVE this little problem and END North Korea !

That’s just NOT going to happen.....sanctions have worked and we know this because China’s sitting at the table as we speak with N.Korean leaders. Now it will be about negotiations.

"Uh... I don't share your confidence. "
There's a lot we can do, and there's a lot the South Korean Military can do.
But you just don't hear about their capabilities ?
I've got 5 short tours in the ROK,
and I'm telling you from a Control Tower Watch Supervisor's perspective,
It'll be over quicker than you think,
and North Korea won't have the chance to do what many LIBERALS and DOVES think they can !
What about our
ASM-135 ASAT missile or
other weapon systems we have ?
What about our
X-37B ?
We HAVE the capability.
What we've lacked ...
is the "WILL" to USE it ! But Trump does NOT have that problem.
Do you think the artillery south of the DMZ that the ROK has, as well as the United States Army has, is just going to sit there and allow Seoul to be destroyed ?
What do you think their FIRST targets will be ?
Our's as well as the ROK's artillery are already
'dialed in' on those North Korean artillery sites, as well as the barracks that house the North Korean soldiers that man those sites.
How many of those north Korean Artillery sites are controlled by electronics (computers) ?
Do you know about CHAMP and its capabilities ?
Do you know about MOP ("
Massive Ordnance Penetrator").
What do you think those THREE Carrier Groups are there for ?
Timing, and the planning of the timing of the attack (right down to the very second that each 'tool' is launched) ... is critical.
Nathan Bedford Forrest :
I always make it a ruleto get there first with the most men
I just took the short cut and got there first with the most men.
When it comes to North Korea...
FIRST, We take out their satellites. (ASM-135 ASAT missile)
Second, we zap them with EMP Cruise Missiles, radar jamming and chaff. (Counter-electronics High-powered Microwave Advanced Missile Project (CHAMP) )
Then here comes the ICBMs.
Then the all out strike begins. Kim Jong-un gets a MOAB suppository.
Then we launch every aircraft in the region thats supersonic, including South Koreas fighters and bombers, to cross into North Korea from all directions, to overfly low level at Mach One PLUS, to bust every piece of glass in North Korea.
Then we firebombs the place to ashes.
The only real transportation system North Korea has is the railroads, so they get blown to smithereens.
And thats just the start of day one.
And then we'll send in the Republic of (South) Korea's military in to KILL ANYTHING LEFT ALIVE NORTH OF THE DMZ !

"... sanctions have worked "
Sanctions NEVER WORK !
They've FAILED HORRIBLY !
That's what got us into this mess
in the first place ! The only thing the North Koreans, and for that matter ... ALL DICTATORS UNDERSTAND ...
IS RAW, BRUTE FORCE !

Think through what I wrote, and then, think through what you wrote.
HOW MANY
"NK and Chinese ground troops" are going to be left alive AFTER the initial ICBMs Strike ?
Have you heard of MIRV ?
Watch this video of old photos and
pay special attention of the Multiple warheads reentering the atmosphere at Kwajalein from 0:51 seconds until 0:58 seconds (
from just one missile) ... and again at 2:21 until 2:28 (
from just one missile) .
REALLY,
HOW MANY of their troops will be left alive ?
Now again I emphasize that this MUST BE A PLANNED, PREEMPTIVE STRIKE, timed out to the very second that each piece of the "tools we use, will strike the ground.
And don't forget about
our tactical nukes that can be carried under the wings of many different aircraft like the F-16s and F-15s at Osan and Kunsan.
Then there's the fighter aircraft we have on aircraft carriers in the Sea of Japan, and at out military bases all over Japan.
What about our nuclear powered submarines that carry MIRVs ?
The time from launch of those weapons until the time they strike North Korea could be extremely short.
Think through what I wrote, and then, ... think through what you wrote. What you don't understand is that ...
many military people, retirees, and U.S. civilians who have actually spend time on the ground in South Korea, and who have detailed knowledge of those systems (like me) ...
are fed up with this CRAP,
and know that the last 60+ years of diplomacy have been an UTTER FAILURE !
It's time to
END THIS PROBLEM
! ! !

He was enough of a scientist to use a piece of toilet paper to check his fellow POWs vision, and somehow managed to juice grass for its Vitamin A to save their sight.OMG. How awful for those poor people.
And then we have "Fat Boy" (Gotta love President Trump) living high off the hog... It honestly makes me furious.

Exactly. As I mentioned below, it is the weak who get “picked on,” even in grade school. It is the natural order of things. Just look at a pride of lions, etc. That is the way it is.

We plan to lodge a serious protest against North Korea through the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission. oh, i am sure north Korea will be just shaking with fear over that protest - not
LOL! Nothing like a strongly worded letter to whip people into shape! ;)
