That gives me a great idea. I was beaten with a 12” stick, because I didn’t memorize something that was in the book I was given. It was an elderly woman dressed in black, with glasses and a mean disposition. I was abused! For what,just because I didn’t memorize some paragraph? I remember, it stated with “Hail Mary,full grace....something”. That was 70 years ago, and I carried that scar all these years.
I'm a female, and when I was nine, my fourth grade teacher was a black female, a very pretty woman named Miss Johnson. That was back in 1956 in Rochester, NY. A group of us kids were having problems with math, so she singled us out and told the rest of the class we were members of the "Dumb Bunny Club." At the time it was embarrassing, but it forced me to get my $hit together and learn what was required of me. I'm 70 and still hate math.
