First I completely agree that the timing is not a coincidence. WaPo probably had this in the can for months and deliberately waited until not just after the primary but also the point of no return where he can’t be replaced on the ballot. So yeah this is dirty politics.
All of which said, I am not sure the reports are not true. I am not prepared to dismiss them out of hand because of the source. It’s not just the women making the accusations, but the large number of corroborating witnesses. And to be fair and honest, I have never cared for Moore. He is a wingnut who has thumbed his nose at the Constitution and the rule of law in the name of his religious beliefs a few too many times for my taste. I think he is a not very deeply closeted Dominionist.
But we are where we are and it’s pretty clear the libs smell blood and a possible Senate seat in of all places, Alabama. I don’t live there but if I did I’d probably hold my nose and vote for the wingnut with the expectation that this would be thoroughly investigated and if true he would then be expelled from the Senate and the Governor could then fill the seat with someone who reflects the state’s political leanings. But I’d have to wear gloves when I filled out a ballot for that man.
If the charge is true, even allowing for the reasons why women don’t come forward for many years, why didn’t she come forward with this during the primary? That was only a couple of months ago.
Maybe if she had, it would have been Brooks-Strange instead of Moore-Strange. She says she’s a Republican who voted for Trump. Why wouldn’t you do this for the party, again ,IF true?
Are the witnesses anyone that anyone has ever heard of before? What makes them more credible than the alleged victims themselves--who are speaking up only now to save the Republic after keeping silent during Moore's 40-year career in law and electoral politics?
