RE: I was referring to the teenage Julie Andrews character and the 40-something Captain von Trapp.
The Maria Von Trapp character was NOT a teenager. She looks to me OLDER than Leizl, the oldest daughter of the Captain.
Julie Andrews was in her late twenties when she portrayed Maria.
Looking at the articles on the Trapp family, she left the convent and went to be a governess when she was 21 (so yes, she was not a teenager). She married Captain von Trapp the next year; she was 22, he was 47.
