Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Monday called it sad that President Trump did not make human rights a priority during his meeting with Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte.
The White House said the two leaders briefly discussed human rights in the context of Dutertes drug crackdown, but the Philippine presidents spokesman said the issue was not discussed.
Since taking office in 2016, Duterte has carried out a war on drugs, which has led to thousands of killings of suspected drug dealers and users, according to Human Rights Watch.
Trump praised Duterte at an Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit, saying the two have had a great relationship. He later laughed when Duterte referred to members of the press as spies, according to a reporter traveling with Trump.
McCain, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump, also ripped the president on Saturday for ignoring human rights violations during his stop in Danang, Vietnam.
McCain was captured and tortured by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War.
WOW...these GOPe folk are singing like canaries now that Obama is gone.
Didn’t McCain take selfies with actual ISIS terrorists?
drop dead....soon McCain
Any word on how much longer we’re going to have to wait for this turd to take his long-awaited dirt nap?
I find it sad, that McCain is still alive
I find it sad, that McCain is still alive
I think it bothers John McCain when the president does not immediately react to his criticism. More and more like the mouse that roared to an empty room.
McCain needs to resign for violating the human rights of those who voted for him after he fraudulently represented who he was and what his political views really are.
God forbid we have good relations with the Philippines.
What is Mcs view on Singapore and other countries with strong drug law enforcement?
Don’t know if they were selfies but there were photos of him rubbing elbows with the slime.
People should put up billboards of McCain meeting with those terrorists!
Sorry about the double post
Duterte is not a dictator he was democratically elected by something like 75% of the Philippine population. And he was running against the establishment which was corrupt. The people there love him and Trump is very smart too support him.
Why can’t the nursing home keep this poor old man penned ?
yawn ... any other crab to share, John?? Please go now.
