Of course there's always soccer that could replace the NFL. Then we could be just like all the other countries in the UN.

It will be interesting when this happens. Right now there are lots of conservative suburbanites who have hopes for soccer becoming the national sport.

However, when this happens the suburbanites will be pushed to the back of the bus. The best soccer players will not be the intelligent effete elites of the suburbs, but the same brutes that populate the upper echelons of soccer around the world.

Soccer will be king and the "conservative" suburbanites and their offspring will be relegated to college club teams and ultimately the stands.

Having seen soccer players falling down in pain on the field from someone looking at them, I seriously doubt that the majority of Americans will ever really get behind this third-world 'sport'.
