If Mitt Romney wins Senate seat from Utah in '18, he will be first defeated presidential nominee since Democrat Hubert Humphrey in 1970 to be elected a freshman senator. (Humphrey previously served in Senate from 1948-64, but resigned to become VP; so he returned as a freshman)
