Special counsel Robert Mueller and his team are looking to determine how much President Trump knew about his campaign members' contacts with Russian officials and representatives if anything during the 2016 race.
Investigators on Mueller's team have questioned Sam Clovis, the co-chairman of Trump's campaign, to determine what Trump knew during the campaign and subsequent presidential transition, Reuters reported Saturday.
The ultimate question Mueller is after is whether candidate Trump and then President-elect Trump knew of the discussions going on with Russia, and who approved or even directed them, one source told Reuters. That is still just a question.
...
It was revealed in court documents made public last week that Papadopoulos told campaign officials during a March 2016 meeting attended by Trump that he had connections with Russians that could help arrange a meeting between the Republican presidential candidate and Putin.

Are you kidding me? If Trump had wanted to meet with Putin he could just get on the telephone and call him up. Trump was a major international player, and then a major candidate for President of the United States - the Kremlin almost certainly would have give that consideration. Why would he need a complete unknown like Papadopoulos to 'arrange' such a thing and what would be the purpose? And what is the significance since it obviously never took place?
I guess Presidential candidates are allowed to meet with foreign governments.
What is this B.S.?
I can’t believe this could make sense to anyone that someone like Donald Trump would need a young volunteer who supposedly had “contacts” with Russians - even if this volunteer did in fact have them - to “arrange” a meeting with Putin if such a meeting was even considered at all. This is just stupid.
“This is just stupid.”
Absolutely. What is being described would be along the lines of what a Democrat would perceive as a logical routing to a goal. In this case a meeting with Putin. That makes this IMO projection.
Trump on the other hand had he wanted to meet with Putin would never have taken a route such as described as this would disallow him the upper hand from the beginning. Groveling is not a preferred means to an end.
“What is this B.S.?”
Grade ‘A’ B.S.?
It certainly also doesn't match his personality. This sounds more like some young guy wanting to impress higher ups in a Presidential campaign - if this conversation even took place at all.
American citizens can meet with foreign governments, entities and individuals anytime they wish. We are (theoretically) a free people with freedom to travel, and we have constitutionally protected freedom of association. How many times have senators and House members, governors and other state representatives met with foreign governments and officials? Corporate heads do it all the time.
So what is being alleged here? That despite our broad freedoms in this area, specifically Donald Trump and Russia are somehow a no-no?
I wonder how many of Barry’s “unaccompanied minor refugees” go to bed hungry each night because so much money is being spent on this fiasco by Mueller and his gang of Clintoonie shyster lawyers. This is really ****ed up.
I want Mueller questioned on how much Mueller knew about anything Russian and when did he know it. What discussions did Mueller have, before his appointment, with anyone about the campaign and with whom were the discussions. He should be questioned under oath. His banking and phone records going back 15 years should be subpoenaed and examined and cross reference with other financial records and his complete travel history. And thats just the stare.
Lets see how squeaky clean this corruptacrat actually is OR IS NOT !
There's nothing new in this report.
I want Weasel Mueller to prove that both he and Weasel Comey are not weasels.
He may think that such flimsy evidence of "collusion" (never mind that collusion is not a crime) will be enough for Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to remove Trump. It may be political suicide for any Republican in Congress to vote for impeachment or conviction but they may feel that saving the swamp is worth their careers.
Of course Patrick Fitzgerald probably thought he could bring down Dick Cheney and had to settle for a perjury charge against Scooter Libby for having a different memory of a conversation than the sainted Tim Russert.
Old news. The Trump team told Papadopoulos no, and told him to stop proposing these meetings.
Mueller has the emails to prove this. The White House gave these emails to him.
Debunked old news.
The lawfare coup intensifies.
A search for a process crime.
“This sounds more like some young guy wanting to impress higher ups in a Presidential campaign - if this conversation even took place at all.”
Agree, but I have this uncontrollable urge to add the word “stupid” to “like some stupid young guy.....”
Mr.Trump, take it from Hillary,I don’t remember Senator,I don’t recall,to the best of my recollection, any other answer and you don’t get the Sandy Berger treatment, you get the Scooter Libby treatment
