The Senate campaign arm of the Republican Party on Friday severed ties with Roy Moore, one day after the Washington Post reported that Moore had sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl and pursued inappropriate relationships with several other teenagers while he was a district attorney in his 30s.
As the Daily Beast first reported, a joint fundraising committee supporting Moores election bid and the Republican Party filed paperwork Friday morning dropping the National Republican Senatorial Committee from its list of beneficiaries. The Alabama Republican Party and the Republican National Committee remain linked to the campaign.
Moore has strongly denied the allegations, calling them a the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation.
After supporting incumbent Luther Strange in the Sept. 26 special primary, the NRSC initially threw its weight behind Moore in the general election against Democrat Doug Jones.
Our focus is always on keeping a strong Republican majority in the Senate, and that includes Alabama, NRSC chairman Cory Gardner said in a statement at the time. Roy Moore will be imperative to passing a conservative agenda, and we support him in keeping this seat in Republican hands.
But Gardner changed his tune after the allegations against Moore became public, saying he should drop out of the election if they proved true. The committees decision to sever ties indicates theyve heard enough to withdraw their support.
Alabama Republicans, meanwhile, have closed ranks around their candidate, with many claiming the allegations were a Democratic conspiracy, others diminishing their significance, and some even saying theyd still support Moore even if the allegations of sexual abuse were true.
I would vote for Judge Moore because I wouldnt want to vote for Doug, Bibb County chairman Jerry Pow told Daniel Dale of the Toronto Star. Im not saying I support what he did.
did that a long time ago!!!
And in reality, what a young man did 40 years (!) ago is not evidence or his character in contrast to how he has lived since.
In addition, great men of history often had character defects such as with the bottle or with women, and their are worse sins:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. (Proverbs 6:17-19)
And a fair-minded book seems to be 'Intimate Lives of the Founding Fathers, Thomas Fleming, ...
*think not thunk, but thunk is a fun word ;)
Teenagers ok Alabama in the 1970s. A kernel of truth then comes the rest of the lies. Did he know them yeah, but did he do anything against the law or believe and say he did nothing wrong or had impropriety against them? The answer to that is ‘no’.
There are lots of things that are perfectly legal that are also disqualifying. If he went to Cambodia and legally had sex with a child, or went to Afghanistan and sold heroin, those may not technically be illegal, but they sure as h*ll should disqualify someone from serving in the United States Senate.
No = Moore say he did no wrong to be clear....
I saw a very similar situation in the South when I moved here in the early eighties.
The only single women over twenty were already divorced.
Sent them a note!!
Why do you say that? I didn’t hear him on Hannity ,but what makes you think so?
Yup...they NEVER get $ from us...now I’ll send their crap back with notes.
He refused to deny dating teenage girls. Danced around it. Said he didn't make a habit of it.
Boy, and just as we were thinking that the Senate had finally grown a pair... oh, wait. No, we weren’t.
This is the SAME crap they tried with Trump and his “airplane gropings,” remember? A whole bunch of women came out of nowhere YEARS after these supposed events - and, surprise! If I remember correctly, they turned out to be democrat operatives.
This is also the same nonsense they successfully used to get rid of Bill O’Reilly. They keep doing it because it WORKS.
Seriously - why would ANYONE believe such accusations made after a long period of time that surface right before an election? Are we supposed to believe there’s no connection? You’d have to be an idiot to NOT suspect these stories are bogus, yet, clearly, that’s EXACTLY what those !@(&#-for-brains morons in Congress are doing.

I picked that up, too. It was an evasive answer, for sure.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee has announced that they stand firmly against the USA judicial belief that a person is innocent until proven guilty.
I laugh at Freepers who are still members of this traitor party.

Don’t forget....some very important states have Closed Primaries....so there is a practical value in some places that can help ‘primary out’ a Rino
If he can not stand up for members of the Party he needs to recluse himself..and step down...NOW NOT LATER...
This hit job came out Thurs. Nov. 9th...and that same day Mitch and the brains diseased McCain stepped up with their typical insults of a member of their so called party..I don't believe either man are Republicans any longer...they are Frauds, Liar, and an embarrassment to our Nation...
WE ALL NEED TO CALL THEIR OFFICE AND ALL OUR FRIENDS AND ASK THEM TO STAND WITH US...
In the South back in the day, apparently dating younger women was acceptable if the parents agreed.
Elvis Presley dated his future wife while she was 14 years of age.
Read the UK Daily Mail and see the age differences in many of these relationships. No one seems to be too worried about it. Libs and the Swamp only care when it is about to affect them.
We better get at least as tough as we were last year. Remember McConnell and the others were just as nasty after the election to Trump and possibly denying him being President. The Swamp calls immediately after the ‘grabbing’ comment were just as quick and profound as they are in this instance with Moore.
Here is a couple more from the 1960s. Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis.
There is a reason I never give to these committees, but stick to candidates. They are making headlines and dropping support for a Republican candidate about whom no such prior history exists based on these ALLEGATIONS that may be proven false AFTER the election ? Disgraceful!
