Spent a good part of my younger days trying to help lift kids out of the ghetto and it breaks your heart. You really have to experience it yourself personally to under stand because it's difficult to describe.
I really wish they would close down the schools in Baltimore and send the kids to Howard, Anne Arundel and Montgomery County. It would actually save money in the long run and these kids would go from lowest in the United States to the highest in the United States. That would be worth the 30 minute bus rides for them. I just can’t believe that Maryland is number one in education in the country and yet allows Baltimore schools to fail.
I can only imagine how hard that must have been. These young men need fathers who are married to their mothers.

Thank you for your efforts, I am sure more than just one of your students benefited from your efforts and walked out of the ghetto quagmire.
That said, I’ve always believed it takes many influences to motivate a young person to apply themselves academically. Throwing money at a school system is not THE answer as the NEA and liberals want you to believe. It takes involved parents (unfortunately many times there is only one) who promote and place strong emphasis in being educated as well as instill discipline and good manners. It takes teachers dedicated to instructing their pupils in critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity instead of social justice warfare and identity politics. It takes adults in the community who teach and demand respect for others and each other. It takes a society that values scientific innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
Unfortunately, as I see it, many young black kids grow up in broken homes, being indoctrinated in liberal/socialist/communist/progressive mills believing their only way to success in life is the entertainment industry (I’ve seen many dead teenage kid’s obituaries say “...an aspiring young rapper.”), pro sports (few ever make it) and worse, a life of crime.
How many potential doctors, scientists, or engineers have we lost to the liberal inner city plantations. The opportunity lost is incomprehensible and down right heartbreaking. Shame on the DNC and their policies.
Yet I am not discouraged. We have Dr. Carlson and his brother, Chief Justice Thomas, LTC West, even Gen Powell and I am sure any others. Although they all had different socio-economic opportunities, they all rose above the minimal liberal expectations. We should expect more from our fellow citizens and particularly our derelict factions in government.
