The source of the story, that Mueller met with Trump is unnamed from CNN, so it's most likely Fake News.
And even if it's real, it doesn't mean that Mueller was there for a Special Prosecutor job. It could have been for the FBI job. After all as even the article points out, the Senate does approve extensions beyond the 10 year limit for the position of FBI director.
And even if they did meet, it doesn't mean that Trump and Mueller were going to work together. After all, Trump also met with Al Gore, Rahm Emanual, Mitt Romney and other enemies.
Even if Mueller did meet with President Trump in that time frame, it does not mean it was any kind of “job interview” — it might have been some sort of consultation, discussion etc. Every POTUS gets advice from a variety of former officials. The alleged timing does seem remarkable, though, if it really did come just before Mueller was appointed as Special Counsel. BUT, I also have doubts that Deputy AG Rosenstein would have consulted or accepted input from the WH on appointing a Special Counsel. Career DOJ types consider themselves very independent (except for the obvious Demoncrap hacks), and Rosenstein would think that he shouldn’t have any discussion with the WH about appointing an Independent Counsel. Another reason I have a lot of trouble believing that Mueller is there because Trump wanted it so.
My hope (possibly desperate) is that even though Mueller came to do the bidding of Demoncrats and RINOs he may actually pursue evidence and leads that he can’t ignore. Thus, if he has any integrity at all (big ???) he may end up going after Democrats. BUT I can’t yet share the view that he was brought in with that in view.
