I have made my life in New Jersey, and I love it here.
But I am not going to stay.
I know where I am going. I am starting to minimize my New Jersey footprint. I know the date that I am moving out. It is a long way out, but I have the date.
I am transferring stuff now. In a few years, I will sell the house and get an apartment. After that, the family is moving, and I will get a studio. By the end, I will be in a rented room in Newark, and the only things I will have in New Jersey will fit in a garment bag.
On my last day of work, at the end of the day I will get in my car, hop on I-78 and never look back. After 35 years in New Jersey, I will have been a visitor, who was bilked by the state at every opportunity, and glad to leave.
