I stayed in DC for the last couple of nights and was struck by the overwhelming number of ads. A continuous theme seemed to be how poorly the Virginia economy was performing.
I thought the DC suburbs were among the very few areas of the country that were doing well during the Obama years. I took complaints about the Virginia economy now as a sign that the swamp is draining.
(I also heard from people that the traffic into DC remains horrendous so the swamp still has a lot to drain.)
NoVa is booming—so far the Republican Congress has not taken any action to reverse the trend of growth in .gov contracting.
The military/industrial/intelligence/pharma/education etal complex is a Leviathan totally out of control. The number of lobbyists pretending to be law firms continue onward and upward.
NoVa is neck deep in the DC swamp.
