>>Northam’s victory was in large part due to a surge in anti-Trump energy since the president took office.

A focus of butthurt Hillary voters who claimed that EVERY election since last November was a referendum on Trump’s election.

How much out of state funding was there in this campaign?
How much out of state volunteerism?

Now they’re going to feel safe turning their shock troops loose again.

Virginia has always been crazy, all the way back to the Revolutionary War.

To be expected - said so the other day. Trump lost the state, this was an establishment candidate, the momentum was with the Dems, and this was a state that hadn’t vote Rep in 8 years. The polls were generally consistent on a Northam win.

How much of the vote did the libertarian siphon off?

I’ll bet the pickup truck ad turned out 120-130% of the vote for various minority groups.

Abject propaganda from ABC news. Hillary and her DC-suckling Swamp-scum won Virginia last year, and Gillespie was too stupid to capitalize on President Trump's popularity with GOP voters. If Gillespie had embraced President Trump's #MAGA and #DrainTheSwamp policies, he might have had a chance.

Instead, Gillespie distanced himself from the President and his energized populist base. Consequently, the GOP—and a sufficient number of independent voters—distanced themselves from GOPe Gillespie, and there was no appreciable enthusiasm for him.

Yet another pronounced and stinging rebuke of the GOPe Swamp. Old habits die hard...

Last night wasn't just about the governor's race. The Republican party, and conservatives, need to pay attention to state congressional races as well (both for state & U.S.).

Yeah, Gillespie wasn't supposed to win last night so it's not surprising that he lost by 8 points in a state that Trump lost by 5.

However, long time Virginia House of Delegates member Bob Marshall lost to a transgender. Marshall appears to be a fairly solid conservative.
Example, 0% score by NARAL (pro choice group) and a 100% score by Virginia Citizens Defense League (i.e. pro 2nd Amend)

So for 25 years, he's re-elected in his state district on a Republican / Conservative platform....and now he gets beat by a liberal transgender.

That's a pretty massive change with the electorate in that area.

The Republican party better shape up, especially those in Congress, or what happened to Marshall may happen to others.

As a Jewess on the US, I can only point out that the number of women who allegedly DATED, but had no sex with, Roy Moore is EXACTLY the same number who accused President Clinton of FORCIBLE RAPE, a FAR more serious offense. Now we know why all REAL Americans put our 2nd Amendment FIRST. Just sayin’!
