Virginia is no longer a competitive state for republicans. As noted earlier, I doubt Trump will campaign in Virginia in 2020, since I doubt it will be considered a battleground state.

Obama lost 1,000 seats for his party and he got the blame and Trump will now get blamed. That is how it works.

It is not so much losing the governor's race - all the polls predicted it, it is the fact that the repubs may lose the state House. There are still 7 races outstanding, but the pubs have lost 13 seats tonight and will lose more when all is said and done - it was a blood bath today at the polls. When voters are energized and want to express their displeasure, their only way is to vote against the president's party - and that is what they did. This will cause the republicans in the US House and Senate to be even more cautious than they are already. Fair or not, Trump will get the blame.

Using your logic, that Virginia is a lost cause why should Trump be blamed at all?

Clearly the Gillepsie/Rove/Bush/GOPe strategy is a losing one for reasons cited by many above.

If you can’t see that, then you really are not intellectually honest.

Actually, I see what VPAP is doing compared to the NY Times.

It will be a 50/50 House, not Democrat Control.

The only seat that is a question mark is D94. The Republican is up by 12 with 100% reporting. They have to go through provisional ballots, but usually there are not enough of them to make a difference. That district had 3 provisional ballots in the last election and 16 in the election before that. The Republican actually won the Provisional ballots 11-5 that year. So unless there is an extremely unusual number of Provisional ballots, the Republican should keep that seat.

The bloodbath in the Virginia HoD maybe a foretaste of what is going to happen in the Ryan led House of Representatives in 2018. The GOPe is setting up for a disaster and could lose both the House and the Senate. The Uniparty would probably be satisfied with that and then they could get on with fully crippling or removing Trump.
