storm update (part from my FB post)
A real mess in many parts of NE Ohio...many still without power. Tree carnage. I feel blessed as many HUGE trees came down but none on my home or van (or my trees on both aside neighbor homes)
Thanks for the birthday greetings my friends... REALLY appreciated but NOT a good way to start the day == It took me a few hours this morning to clear off the apron of huge branches so I could leave.
By 2 AM power had been restored to street (except for maybe 5 situations where individual lines to homes were taken out by trees ... and I saw the 5 trucks working when I left about 9) By 2 AM also the two large trees from my yard which fell across the street had been moved. (see pix)
NOT removed, they were hauled to my front property and the empty lot across the street.
My drive this AM to wifi had me very somber seeing the terrible situation of so many huge trees twisted off into homes, vehicles, driveways, yards. The appearances of the trees lend themselves to twister. It is NOT a tornado unless it touches the ground but it can hover and take a path that will uproot and twist/snap off massive trees.
I checked on my one elderly neighbor who was still w/o power as his next-door neighbor's tree took out their lines) and chatted with several others as I drove on my street. Like I said, a real mess.
Two 40+ foot evergreen trees that have been dead for about a year in my yard were twisted off. One across the back of my deck blocking the door and removing the gutter. Across the front God directed another into the front yard - missing my van and garage OR blocking completely my front egress/ingress.
Fortunate and blessed!
The trees will keep their stately position. I have no funds to remove them and insurance does not cover this. IF it had gone into the house it would have a 1500/per tree deductible for the HOME REPAIR... not removal of trees.
