At the mid-point of the bridge, the lane will have a glass bottom, to look at the Mississippi River below.

It's truly amazing what kind of sh*t you can do with other people's money. "Wow, look at that. There's RIVER WATER down there!" And if the water was clear (it isn't), you might be able to see a fish once in a while. Wowee!

Officials did not know what the speed limits will be on the new bridge, but a consultant, George Ryan, estimated it to be between 60-75 miles per hour.

Now THERE's a consultant who's worth every penny of his fee! (And I wonder if he's related to the former Illinois Gov. of the same name...)

Really, wow! I guess carbon fiber was deemed too costly. Or, it wouldn't line the right people's pockets.
