I agree. I try to block the active content but I never minded the ad banners. I'll actually click through them from time to time.

An increasing trend is that some websites are now restricting access to content if you are running pop-up blockers. At that point, it's a judgment call for me. If it's a well-known website that I trust, I'll allow pop-ups for that domain only. If I don't know or trust the site, I'll just move on. It all depends on your comfort level.

Feedly is an aggregator wherein you select your own sources and it pulls articles from them as they publish. I’ve used it for a long time and like it.

As do I. Very, very powerful tool.

Here's a screenshot of part of my Feedly feeds:

It allows you to capture RSS feeds from multiple sources as well as supporting customized searches.

For example, I can enter this search pattern

And, not only will I get the search results, but it will keep collecting articles that have those three words in them.

Since you're sick of Drudge, one thing that I recommend is keep Drudge's RSS feed in Feedly and I can go straight to the articles he links without having to deal with the ads on his page.

Thanks! Sounds like something I want to add to my tech toolbox. I’ll research it.

UBlock Origin has done a decent job, but those ads on Liberty Daily are visually revolting and UBlock is evidently allowing them through. I used to see similar visuals on Drudge prior to UBlock Origin. Nothing like closeups of insects and sores to make your lunch less appealing. I think the one I just saw was a photo of a cross-eyed hillary with bloodshot eyes. Yikes! Halloween is over.

The Daily Mail's website is actually a pretty good news aggregator, just by itself. Unfortunately, the kind of images you're trying to avoid are in the articles. Today they've got a mysterious creature crossing the road, cleft lip surgery, etc.

Whatfinger always seems to lead to malware. At least, in my experience. The Liberty Daily is very good, but seems to have some pretty nasty ads themselves. I don't mind an aggregator trying to pay the bills, but I also don't want to go to a site that has ads that overtake much of the page, AND lead to some pretty dodgy sites.

I use uBlock Origin and it has worked well up until the last couple of days on LD.

Thanks for the tip.

It’s becoming a golden age of choice.

Found my problem with uBlock Origin not working all of a sudden .. I recently DOWNgraded to Waterfox because Firefox has just made their browser unusable! We went from FF 15 to now 57 in less than two years?!! Apparently, FF 57 Quantum (whatever they call it) is all of the rage, and they claim it's fast, but I didn't see it. And it disables almost all of my addons, so I uninstalled it.

Anyway .. when I changed over to Waterfox (MUCH better than bloated FF) it copied over my profile but didn't copy over my ublock.sqlite file. That fixed it after a restart.
