“I had a pied a terre looking over the Battery, and was there having breakfast on 9/11.”
First time I ever saw “pied a terre” used on FR. Are you a French writer?
No. But I don’t know what else to call an apartment you use part of the time. We live in Vermont, and I commuted to an apartment in NYC for many years. Unless the weather was really bad, I took the train back up to Vermont every weekend, to be with the wife and kids. I taught at NYU, and they gave me a good price on the rental.
