Remember how Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner pushed for Trump to hire Paul Manafort?
San Jose Mercury-News ^ | October 30, 2017 | By MARTHA ROSS

For the past couple years, Ivanka Trump has claimed at various times that she has had no major role in her father’s presidential campaign and that she tries to stay out of politics now that she’s a senior White House advisor.

Ivanka reportedly encouraged President Donald Trump to hire Anthony Scaramucci as White House communications director; his disastrous 10-day tenure brought increased scrutiny to her and Jared’s role as unofficial White House personnel managers.

It turns out that Trump also has his government novice daughter and son-in-law to thank for encouraging him to hire Paul Manafort to work for his campaign between March and August 2016.

Back in the spring of 2016, Ivanka and Jared probably had very different ideas about how Manafort could benefit Trump’s presidential campaign.

The New York Times reported that in early 2016, Manafort met with Thomas J. Barrack Jr., a friend to Manafort as well as to Trump and Ivanka. Barrack was impressed, and passed on Manafort’s specific recommendations for Trump’s campaign to Ivanka and Jared.

Ivanka, in turn, gave Manafort’s advice to her father.

On the surface, Ivanka and Jared seemed to think that Manafort, a long-time political consultant and lobbyist, would bring professionalism to a campaign that up until that point had been run by the scatter-shot Corey Lewandowski. They specifically hoped he could help corral delegates for the upcoming Republican National Convention.

Jared and Ivanka had nothing to do with it. Roger Stone recommended Manafort.

Ford was when, 74? Long time from 74 to 16...40 years or so. I wonder if he consulted on others?

Manafort “joined Donald Trump’s presidential campaign team in March 2016 and served as campaign manager from June to August 2016. He was previously an adviser to the U.S. presidential campaigns of Republicans Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Bob Dole.”

Wow. Maybe they should blame GHW Bush for Russia collusion.

Second and third morals, don’t hire political amateurs and don’t hire those seeking a significant rise in income by cashing in. I’d trade every single Trump adviser for one Lyn Nofziger.

Turning on your own comes very easy to some. It’s being done in the WH and it seems to be done here at FR as well. People......sometimes don’t think about the consequences before they react. Disagreements pop up in many places at different times; during crisis, or joyful recognition (it’s not the situation, it’s the combative spirit)

I expect Kushner and Don Jr. to get indicted in a perjury trap for a false statement before this is over. I hope they were smart enough to have lawyers when they were interview by Mueller’s boys...Lord knows they certainly could afford them.

I don’t think Jr. would lie on purpose, Kushner I think would . I think Kushner would be the most likely to turn on Trump too. Hopefully this comes to an end.
