I know we are supposed to hate him now, but Senator Sasse basically announced yesterday that President Trump really doesn’t care about any of the details in pretty much any of the bills that are passed.

He wants to sign something that he can call the biggest tax cut in history.

It’s pretty clear now that it’s the corporate rate that everyone cares about, and the trick is how to make that cut revenue neutral so it can be passed via reconciliation.

It’s always been about slashing the corporate rate. Corporations didn’t pay millions to K Street lobbyists in order to get nothing in return. Congress is also running scared because wealthy donors told them if they don’t get this passed and they don’t get what they want, the donations will dry up to zero. I also agree with you that Trump is desperate for a win. He really doesn’t care at this point I think what’s in the bill. As long as it passes. But whatever it is, Trump will say it’s ”A great, big, beautiful tax cut for all Americans that is going to make you all very, very happy, I assure you!”

Yep, that’s essentially it. If it takes a tax hike on the middle class to get that, they’ll do it without blinking.

However, they are sacrificing 30-40 Republicans in Blue States to do it.
But those guys will never have another $ worry in their lives. They’ll take one for the team.
