Tough to envision how Niger is vital to our national security or economic interests!
There are significant uranium mines there. They used to be under French corporate management/control. (I assume that’s still the case.) Plus we have said we are going to hunt down ISIS. Also SF’ers are in a lot of unusual places training the local military, gendarmes, etc.
