Don’t get hung up on deductions.

The deductions are a $1.5 TRILLION dollar issue.

In fact, it is the main issue here. If the numbers were not significant, Congress would not be proposing them. They need money - my money. That's why they want to take it, so that they can give my money to someone else.

The government needs money, and this is the well they chose to tap. It will adversely affect millions. So yeah, let's discuss it.

If the 25% bracket started at $250K would deductions matter at all? This would mean almost all my income would be taxed at an EFFECTIVE rate below 12% a huge savings for me anyway. We cannot evaluate the tax changes without real numbers.

Do you know what an effective rate means?
