The “loaded” question seems redundant,and likely to bias the findings toward lower numbers.
Some people define a handgun without a round in the chamber as “unloaded”. Quite a few carry that way, called “Israeli style” or “Condition Three”.

I always have one chambered - hate to be in a real emergency and draw a rock from the holster and have to waste precious seconds turning it into a firearm...plus, I carry small .380's for size/weight convenience and they don't always chamber as cleanly as their larger cousins - be a real mess for one to get hung at the wrong time.
I'm one of the daily/self defense statistics...
