After performing the national anthem at Friday night's Brooklyn Nets game, singer Justine Skye took a knee in the latest installment of the ongoing demonstration.
Skye knelt specifically during the line "and the home of the brave," according to reports.
However, according to the Associated Press, the demonstration wasn't well received among fans. Skye reportedly received more boos than cheers for her stunt.
Shortly after her performance at the Nets' home opening game, Skye posted on Instagram a clip of her kneeling with the caption, "Got a bit shaky at the end.. was pretty uneasy about singing the anthem and probably won't ever be invited to sing it again but I had to take a knee for the opening game in my city and let my voice be heard. We will not be silenced #blacklivesmatter."
The singer's actions come after weeks of national controversy over a handful of NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem in protest. President Trump has repeatedly voiced his disdain for the act.
We’ll never know if Whitney Houston would have done this now...
I don’t think she would have.
They are vindicating those who never regarded them as “Americans” anyway - just anomalies of history. I’d be offended if I thought anyone that could pass a citizenship test was doing this; for example, do you think this bread-and-circuses creature can name three Founding Fathers, or speaks real English?
Another black klanner taking a knee to show contempt for our flag, our fallen heroes, and our country. This becomes another hallmark of their pathetic contributions to the modern world.
Please name one of these idiots that can coherently explain what they are trying to gain. If it is respect they should have someone with a room temperature I. Q. explain that respect is earned, not given under threats or disrespect.
Black Leagues Matter
“He did us all a favor by exposing the real feelings of so many black players towards Whitey”
Perhaps, but the continual erosion of common decency, respect and tradition isn’t good for the country. Without those things, the descent into chaos gains momentum and the end result isn’t good for anyone. Crappernick is a turd and I despise him. I don’t appreciate the “favor”.
People can be inspired to turn on each other or to get along for the common good. I’d prefer the latter. Too bad Obama didn’t care about that, being a community disorganizer among other things. He bears most of the responsibility for the current state of the country. He could have been a good president if he’d been an honorable man, but he was not, and chose to be a petty, vindictive, race-baiter.
