California has the best property tax system compared to almost any other state in the nation. How many of you Texans or Nebraskans pay only 1.025% property tax like I do? The answer is none
Because of Proposition 13 California the property taxes can only be raised 2% a year! That's a fact that many California-bashers are not aware of.
I live in Connecticut and my property tax is $15,000 a year - or $1,250 a month. That's actually higher than my mortgage!
He's right, but only one little problem. If you live in a home in CA, ya better not move within the state and or try to buy up. You'll get economically gang banged with punitive taxes. One of the homes I sold some years ago, were were paying $275 per month. The people who bought it had to pay about 585. per month. And if they sold it today, you'd be paying about 680 per month in taxes alone. And this is just a postage stamp 1400 sq ft property with little or no yard.
And the other big problem is, in CA, EVERYTHING is outrageously expensive, gas, utilities, water, food, car insurance, car registration, sales taxes and on and on.
So there ya go.
And another problem Sam, what ya spend in Connecticut on a 250,000 home, the equivalent in CA would cost ya about 500,000++
Whoops...
