“...with standard Cremation by fire.with standard Cremation by fire... I mean really who enjoys going to look at a dead body?...”
In school in the 1970’s we learned about funeral pyres. We were horrified at the thought of desecrating the body like that.
Since the beginning of records, we buried our dead. Reverence was shown to the human body. It did us good to see the body laid out. To touch a corpse’s hand made death real.
I don’t know if it’s because of abortion, but there is growing disrespect for life, let alone respect for the human body.
Now I believe that the Lord will raise the dead. I know our soul is what matters, but I hope to keep my body intact, and be buried.
It’s so quick and easy to cremate a body. Dead and gone. Even have a “pot luck” memorial at the local bar or park.
There isn’t even reverence for the ashes. Cremation isn’t biblical for all you evangelists.
While I fully respect your beliefs, they are not mine.
My belief is at the moment of death the soul, that which is all we were, departs the body. What is left is a shell which will decompose and return to the earth.
The Bible is silent on the subject.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...
