Partner, Alexander Haig was a general in the U.S. Army and General Kelly is USMC. There is a huge difference between these 2 branches of the Military.
Yes, there are some tough folks in the U.S. Army but the USMC is by far the tougher of these 2 branches in the Military. I think the USMC fought the Japanese in the Pacific almost all by themselves. They did make a major error/mistake in the conquest of the island Peleliu when they were doing their island hopping to the Phillippines. They were too gun ho on their reaction and they should have probably circled the island and blocaded the whole island and make the Japs cry Uncle. The USMC killed every Jap on the this island since the code of bushido would not let them surrender to the USMC.
I keep going back to the statement that Mrs. Roosevelt made to the press about the Marines and it goes like this: The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps! quote from Eleanor Roosevelt.
Personally, I think General Kelly runs a pretty tight ship as Chief of Staff and he does not like the limelight if you catch my drift.
You probably already know a lot of this info. as a Freeper. Sorry about repeating the history.
