U.S. Air Force officials have suspended a decorated officer and revoked his recommendation for promotion to brigadier general because he would not sign an unofficial document affirming a retiring subordinate's same-sex marriage. Col. Leland B.H. Bohannon, Air Force Inspection Agency commander at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N.M., signed all the requisite documents for a senior noncommissioned service member's May retirement ceremony except for one: a letter of "spousal appreciation" for the gay serviceman's partner.
Bohannon's Christian convictions about marriage put him at odds with the request to sign the unofficial, optional letter, and he sought counsel from his chaplain and judge advocate general. While awaiting guidance, and with the retirement ceremony days away, Bohannon asked a two-star general who did not object to sign the document instead.
But the retiring serviceman filed a complaint, alleging Bohannon discriminated against him based on his sexual orientation. An investigation substantiated the claim and found Bohannon guilty of unlawful discrimination, according to attorneys with First Liberty.

Exactly. The homosexuals have conflated the definitions of tolerance and approval. To NOT approve of their sick behavior is considered "intolerant". So you're not allowed to hold personal religious beliefs that contradict their perversions, and if you do, they'll smoke you out, especially if you're in a position of leadership.
As I have said for a while now, it's not enough for a commander to 'tolerate' them -- everyone does this as a matter of law, and as a matter of professionalism. But the state of affairs has degraded to the point that if you're a commander you have to advocate for them, or risk losing chances at command, promotion, and even risk being prosecuted under UCMJ.
Apparently, not so "optional" after all!

Is Mattis a closet homosexual? Based on his various past statements I kind of assumed that, regardless of whether he is or not he wouldn’t let his personal peccadilloes interfere with policies that promote military efficiency, but maybe he’s getting a bug in his ear. I hoped he would try to regain an environment that allows servicemen, be they gay straight or whatever, to do their jobs without fear of getting sued for not signing a greeting card. I certainly expected him to revoke the policy of women being put in infantry units. So far, it would appear he has done...Approximately nothing. I haven’t heard anything firsthand on the ROE — has he done anything to improve those? Are our guys still getting disciplined for kicking ass and/or defending their own lives?
This “senior NCO” is retiring. He has to be at least an E-7 with 20 or more years of service. Someone has been looking the other way for far longer that 5 years.

This nothingburger article has no detail of exactly what this COL was “guilty” of in the sense of a charge under UCMJ. Further, if he was already on the list for O-7, that list has already passed muster at the Congressional level so how does this complaint stop that process? There’s a bunch left unreported here.
It is not a marriage, but an arrangement.
The officer can answer to higher powers. Funny how consciousness objectors are now a nono in such matters. But fine for not shooting at the enemy when Bush is in power.
