Also, as we’ve noticed with our elderly parents and acquaintences, for some reason hygiene isn’t what it used to be. They seem to be afraid of showering and bathing. And with arthritis impacting joints sometimes it’s tough to keep clean. “Clean” is critical for avoiding UTIs.

Yes, they seem to be afraid of bathing or showering or washing their hair. Funny, kids with autism have a similar fear. And people with dementia become unable to properly toilet (at first they simply forget to wipe but eventually it is too difficult to do) so of course it’s hard to keep them clean. My mom is a stroke risk, had one last spring, lucky she didn’t have any sequelae but since they can’t learn anything, it would be so cruel if she became affected by a stroke. Better the next one takes her bye bye. :(
