What cultural factors, native to a particular immigrant, increase the odds that they will subscribe to that American identity?

Becoming an American truly, requires adopting American culture. I know people from Mexico who dived into American culture without reservation, as well as Vietnamese who did so. The predilection of the individual is what’s most important.

I know what you’re getting at, that Europeans have more in common with us culturally and thus make the transition to American identity more readily. But when I look at Europe these days, I see a lot of spineless statists and Muslims.
Things have changed.

Those Europeans who do have the predilection to adopt American identity do sometimes have an advantage when it comes to language and cultural references, but I don’t see that as a reason to exclude all others who also desire to be Americans. Language and culture can be picked up quickly if the desire and intention are present.
