I read it and I still don’t know. Mostly it was a protracted whine about Trump. At the very end it said if Obama did speak up, it would give Trump the kind of target he likes most. He would take aim at Obama and his supporters would love it. (That’s a paraphrase. CNN actually said it would “rile” Trump’s base—but they meant it as, ‘energize.’)
The article did point out that Obama had spoken out a few times already. Not sure what point they were making with that; could have been, ‘so cut him some slack,’ or could have been, ‘for all the good it did.’
I went ahead and hit CNN to find out- well to see what they had to say about it
