Yeah, Smith was pretty much mainstream evangelical, as are the Calvary bunch - he was just in the right place and time when the “Jesus Movement” happened, late 60s-early 70s.

To think that McGowan and other kids had to grow up in such depravity masked as religion. I believe River Pheonix grew up with COG parents, also. Don’t really know much else about him, I don’t keep up with recent celebs, esp. dead ones that much. I’m more of a classics aficionado - Bogie, Audrey Hepburn (Kate Hepburn, too), etc and so on.
