Constitutional Expert: Unlikely Someone Is Building Case To Invoke 25th Amendment

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — CBS Radio alumnus Michael Smerconish, this week, suggested that Senator Bob Corker’s comments about the White House were intended to “plant the seeds” for a 25th Amendment removal of President Donald Trump. The city’s leading constitutional expert finds that unlikely.

The 25th Amendment passed in 1967 after an illness by President Eisenhower and the assassination of President Kennedy to allow the vice president to take over in the event the president is disabled. Constitution Center president Jeffrey Rosen says it’s been invoked three times, voluntarily by President Reagan when he was shot and President Bush twice during medical procedures. But it includes a clause that lets the vice president and cabinet decide if he’s too disabled to serve.

The details are that invoking the 25th over a president’s objections is more difficult than impeachment and removal. That’s why it’s fallen off the radar except among the stupidest of kooks.

The big problem here is that Donald Trump is doing a superb job of running the country and he is obviously fully in control of his mental faculties.

Physically, he just shot a one over par golf match with Lindsey Graham so physically he must be in pretty darn good shape.

The guy who is supposedly setting him up, Bob Corker, is the guy most responsible for enabling Obama’s Iran Nuclear deal which is just about to revelations which will cause major embarrassment and he also got caught in a big time pay to play scheme

There’s no question but that the elite have been trying to set up Trump
for impeachment.

Likely the excesses of Mueller are part of this; if Trump fires Mueller,
then they will scream “obstruction of justice”, and demand impeachment.

So, thanks to Sessions recusing himself, we are in a bit of a pickle, which wouldn’t have been as easy otherwise.

Seems Corker lied about his income for over 10 years.

I wonder if we will ever know how much more tax & penalties Corker has to pay. ??

Anybody on any topic more than 200 miles from home.

Did he forget that is takes a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures.
