“a security guard who encountered Paddock was actually shot at 9:59 p.m. local time, minutes before the 64-year-old unleashed a hail of gunfire on unsuspecting concertgoers”

Nine minutes. What the heck was the security guy doing for nine minutes? Or 6+ minutes as reported in the thread’s article. Either way, anyone else would have gotten to the elevator for security and pushed the lobby button. There’s a phone in the elevator to call for help but he had a phone on him as all reports claim he immediately called it in. Now, if he called his supervisor and the supervisor did nothing or the supervisor called 911 and it wasn’t relayed to the officers on scene, we don’t know. But someone dropped the ball. If it was the Mandalay (I suspect it was), they’d be paying everyone to keep it under wraps. They’re fixing to get some very bad publicity if this plays out.
Perhaps the security guard got the timing of events mixed up, or saw it being reported wrong and set the record straight on when he was shot. Maybe it is important that he clarified he was shot “before” the shooter let loose on the crowd. I won’t speculate openly any further. Odd that we are hearing absolutely nothing from the guy. Perhaps he lawyered up.
When do the guards change shifts?
