Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt told coal miners in Kentucky on Monday that he will move to repeal a rule limiting greenhouse-gas emissions from existing power plants, assuring them, The war against coal is over.
Speaking at an event in Hazard, Ky., with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Pruitt said his agency will publish the new proposed rule Tuesday.
Tomorrow, in Washington, D.C., Ill be a signing a proposed rule to withdraw the so-called Clean Power Plan of the past administration, and thus begin the effort to withdraw that rule, Pruitt said.

great news.
This was the lead on Yahoo this morning, the comments were absolutely over the top freak outs. Had a BIG smile reading them.
It should be enforced in the blue states.
Ethanol isn’t going away.. it’s been used as a gas stabilizer since before they started poisoning everyone by using lead as the stabilizerz
I ran such a power plant with the new pollution control requirements the EPA demanded, and we still had to shut the plant down because the additional equipment permanently increased production costs. Made it very difficult to profit, even though we served the metro NYC area.
This was all before the EPA had a chance to hit us again with even more environmental restrictions and requirements that were coming before Trump was elected.
We're not talking about just blue collar people here. A lot of people making 6 figure salaries lost their jobs over these policies, myself included.
Ethanol is here to stay, at least as long as petrochemical fuels are sold.
The court can’t force the executive branch to enforce a non-legislated executive order from a previous administration, can it? How will they enforce their judicial decision? Strap on a gun and a badge?
Yup. Farmers can get just as addicted to welfare as any inner city dweller.
No good reason to close the plants. They were/are being built in China/India and using some of the equipment, probably, from the shuttered plants.
The EPA thought up the idea of requiring oxygenated molecules to gasoline to reduce CO and NOx emissions. Oil refineries were using MTBE until EPA required ethanol in specifically EPA designed smog control areas. Then politics entered and presto ethanol total usage is mandated forcing companies to add it everywhere.
Ethanol has lower energy per volume than the gasoline it replaces, even though ethanol does have a high octane of about 99. Ethanol hurts fuel economy because of the lower energy content. Ethanol also is soluble in water, which introduces additional issues.
Others pointed out that Trump is unlikely to get rid of ethanol - politics - I understand that, just wish someday soon we could do the right thing and get rid of ethanol in fuel, or at least in all areas where smog does not exist.
I’ve been so impressed with Mulvaney since Day One. He certainly isn’t afraid to speak his mind - never backs down from MSM attacks.
Sorry but gas stabilizers are nothing new and you are grossly wrong in your claims that ethanol was first added thanks to the EPA... standard oil started adding ethanol to gasoline in the 1920s. It’s use predates the lead that was used for this purpose and basically poisoned everyone for decades.
Ethanol does not stablize gas, it destablizes it and creates wax deposits while releasing water to attack aluminum parts.
It’s hell on small engines. I use non ethanol gas in all my small engine equipment.
I know. My brother used to run coal plants. Went to nukes.
Agreed. Great news for America.
Will not affect the climate; weather will still change. Will not affect solar output.
Now, a brief break from the intensity, and a moment of reflection of the older generation that worked hard, kept their noses clean and DIDN’T complain....which is lost in this world as we know it:

Strange that you would choose to introduce John Prine on a thread about coal mining...

Sorry but it does indeed stabilize gas. Yes it is hell on the rubber and small parts, especially on 2 strokes, but it does indeed stablize gasoline. It has been used as such since the 1920s.
It was replaced by that lead based chemical later and basically helped poison the entire planet by releasing insane amounts of lead into the environment. When it was made illegal they returned to using ethanol as a stabilizing agent just like they had done prior to using the lead compounds.
Blaming the EPA for ethanol is just showing ignorance. MTBE was an evironmentla disaster created by the EPA mandating additives, but ethanol in gasoline predates the EPA and spinning it as such is just woefully ignorant.
http://fuel-testers.com/expiration_of_ethanol_gas.html
From another site: “ethanol gasoline has a shelf life of about 2 to 3 months.
Pure gasoline (ethanol free) has a shelf life of several years if kept properly even with out fuel stabilizers.”
I repeat, ethanol is NOT a fuel stablizer. It pulls water from the air and causes gasoline to phase separate.
This will create non soluble wax solid deposits in your fuel system and cause your carb to fail in small engines. As the fuel degrades it eventually will break down the alcohol to the point it releases the water it pulled from the air and cause aluminum pitting that bores holes in your aluminum carb castings.
Alcohol is a horrible additive for gasoline, it lowers the fuel value as well as the life span of that fuel significantly.
And it is hell on small engines.
