RE: Los Angeles just deleted Columbus Day in favor of “indigenous people’s day”

Question to Los Angeles — If you want to have an “indigenous people’s day”, go ahead and have it. But why do it by deleting an existing day honoring Columbus?

WHY CAN’T WE HAVE BOTH?

That’s exactly what was argued before the city council - to add a day instead of deleting a holiday, because Columbus Day is celebrated by Italian Americans, honoring one of their heroes.

City Council was having none of it and the Columbus Day holiday was deleted.
