Seems their corporate offices in Knoxville were raided by the FBI and the IRS back in 2013. Pilot Flying J paid restitution to customers and agreed to pay a $92 million penalty.
An additional issue was the fact that Governor Haslam was pushing for a gas tax increase that would have boosted Pilot's revenues.
Governor Bill Haslam's brother Jimmy, the chairman of Pilot Flying J, was also Senator Corker's roommate at the University of Tennessee. All kinds of interesting connections. Needless to say, all these guys are #NeverTrumpers.

Odd in the same manner as in 2004 when BOTH DUMB SOBs candidates were from the same ‘secret fraternity’ with a minimal # of live members.
THAT was definitely a case of voting for who one thought was least objectionable.
I did not ‘like’ Bob Dole as a candidate but at least he had the ‘decency’ to resign the ‘government’ post he was holding once he became the nominee.
I look at it as when the nominee is finally selected he should resign the post he is holding- if only to be able to pursue his aspirations.
Double bonus...when a doofus like Kaine or Kerry etal lose their election, at least ‘we’ are done with them.
ALSO people in Texas or NY or Podunk should NOT have a say in who the ‘dog catcher’ in East Podunk Falls should be.
If the person doesn’t directly ‘serve’ you then he/she/it shouldn’t be taking money from you.
AND if people start donating obviously are not in a position to donate ‘that kind of money’, they should be prosecuted.
Far too many ways to check these days.
No reason a Congressman should get elected on Nov 8 and have to hit the money trail on Nov9 to started funding his NEXT election......
A Pilot gas station sign photographed in 1965. By then, the company had grown to a dozen gas stations and was approached by Marathon Oil about a partnership. A 50-50 deal was signed later in the year. SUBMITTED BY PILOT CORP./ MOXLEY CARMICHAEL
