I was wondering why the 2nd breach? Why would paddock close the door to the 2nd room if he were going from one broken window to the other to shoot?

That might have been a door to the bedroom in the main suite. Not the adjoining room.

Correction. Just saw that detailed image. Interesting point. Perhaps that room got too smoky. Or once he saw the guard, he stopped shooting and closed that door as an extra defense.
