It explains the other window being broken out. But unless those tanks held regular av fuel they would not have exploded. Jet (I fueled commercial aviation) would not unless the bullets were some type of explosive round.
Then again, maybe those tanks were empty.
It’s hard to even get gasoline to ignite. You need something incendiary like a tracer. Regular lead will just poke holes and dump fuel on the ground.
