So, you’re saying it’s legal to own a fully automatic machine gun IF it was made before 1986? Others have posted it’s legal in SOME states. I have to ask why would anyone need a fully automatic other than to cause mass casualties or pure fun.

Am I wrong that even M16s soldiers carry only fire 3 round bursts?

If you listen to the sound it sounds fully automatic to me.

It's legal for a private citizen to own a machine gun if said gun was manufactured before 1986, in some states.

Kentucky is one. Oklahoma is one. Nevada is one. I'm sure there are others. I'm told the annual KY and OK machine gun shoots are loads of fun.

First, I don't think this Vegas shooter was using fully automatic weapons. At least, I haven't read anything conclusive. Second, IIRC, there has only been one case of a legally acquired/owned machine gun used in a crime since the NFA of '34.
