Had multiple offers; never could afford to live in CA on the offered salary -- not nearly as well as I was living in Texas without their "raise"... This would magnify that difference greatly!

I got an automatic raise when I was transferred to Silicon Valley from LA because of the higher living cost. Of course, that kicked me into another tax bracket with no consideration for the higher COL. But you take what you can get.
