Something doesn’t add up. He was a first round draft choice which per the current CBA has a sliding pay struture for 1st round picks through the last pick in the final 7th round. If a player is not drafted they are free agents and can with any team usually for between $15k to $30k. If they make the team the league minimum is $465K.

1st rounders are guaranteed millionaires. They are entitled to several million in signing bonuses and remaining amount is structured over 4 years. In his case he signed a $13.8 million contract and got an $8.2 million signing bonus. He will receive the remaining $5.6 million over the next 4 years.

Game day checks are equal to the annual salary divided by 16 games. They only get paid if they are on tge active roster for the game. Players don’t receive pay for training camps or other team activities (OTA). His minimum game day check is at least $87,500.

I should clarify that I’m not knocking the kid, but the fake news spin. ESPN is trying to make it look like this kid gave all his money away to portray NFL players as unselfish community minded people.

$27,3535 * 3 = $82,059. Maybe he donated three checks for that amount, each to one of the women? Or maybe taxes and with-holding, or maybe he kept something for himself. In any event, very classy gesture.
