I think the dirty little secret of the NFL is that a lot of people in the league, both in the front office and on the field hold the fans in contempt.

They think no matter what they do, Joe Slob the fan will watch and worship their teams. Surprise! They are wrong.

You may be right, but my theory is a little different: I think that a great many inside the league also think the protests are stupid and disrespectful but are too afraid to do anything about it. These people are making HUGE MONEY doing a job that quite frankly, many of us would be thrilled to be doing. I think it's possible a lot of sensible, decent people are being held hostage by idiots and they are whistling past the graveyard, hoping it all goes away....course I'm wrong all the time,so....
