North Korean officials have sought meetings with Republican analysts in Washington in an effort to better understand President Trump.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that North Korean government officials have been reaching out to Asia experts with GOP ties since before the recent bout of threats between Trump and Pyongyang broke out.
“Their no. 1 concern is Trump," one person familiar with North Korea's outreach told the Post. "They can’t figure him out."
In all, Pyongyang has requests out to seven organizations that have helped arrange and host meetings between North Korean officials and Americans in the past.
Trump and North Korean officials have been engaged for months in a back-and-forth of threats and insults that appeared to reach new heights on Monday when the country's foreign minister called a tweet from Trump a declaration of war. He also said that the North would shoot down U.S. aircraft even outside of North Korea's airspace. That the North Koreans are looking to talk with Republican-connected experts and analysts does not signal that they are ready to sit down for negotiations, according to the Post. Pyongyang has insisted that the country be recognized as a nuclear weapons state — a demand rejected by the U.S.
North Korean officials have met with Americans in neutral places, like Geneva and Kuala Lumpur, in the past. Those meetings, known as "Track 1.5" talks, are considered official by Pyongyang and unofficial by the U.S.
The North Koreans, however, have become more interested in making sense of Trump's strategy and intentions, according to the Post.
Among those that the North Koreans have sought meetings with include Bruce Klingner, a former CIA analyst and a North Korea expert at the Heritage Foundation. He declined the invitation.

They can’t figure him out............................. Hmmmmmm? And that’s a bad thing, why? Trump isn’t a Republican, he is a pissed off American who doesn’t like what this nation has become under the former leaderships. He knows like most of us, it was time for a change, we had to get off the road we were being dragged through. He found that the old path was still there, and it only needed to be repaved.
That's one way to look at it. Not how I initially did though.
This could also be part of Trump playing the "madman theory" ala Richard Nixon which when you think about it has some legs to it.
Or .... the Nork's just blinked.

The fact this even got out there I'm not so sure is a good thing but if the reporting is true my gut tells me the Nork's are blinking because they never thought the "game" would get this far.
They probably thought they'd be eating good by now .... and they're not.
If they are talking to people who set up GOP meeting in the past, they are probably not going to find people who understand Trump.
This is a major part of what is going on.

Trump has said it before and will repeat it, never give them the advantage, it’s in the “art of the deal”. Who in their right mind, other than politicians, would give an enemy with a mad man dictator, any indication of what your position is. The NORKs are not playing with your typical politician when trying to understand Trump and IMO that is EXACTLY what Trump wants. Don’t even give them your right name. When necessary deliver your message in the form of bombs and “REAL” rockets, they will understand that.
