He can switch parties all he wants. AZ Gov has to appoint a replacement that belongs to the party at the time of the election. McTraiter was a Republican when he was elected, a Republican will be replacing him regardless of whether he changes parties.
I think the Governor will appoint himself.

Easy to get around... Just have the republican you want to pick change parties to dem, and then switch back after appointed.
Which ever party he is in, another rat will be appointed when he goes.
