With respect, i dont think that the networks are freaking out.
I suspect that they are doubling down on supporting the protests and slamming Trump/patriots.
The lead story last night on the local ABC news (they own ESPN i think) was how brave all the kneeling players were, and how the entire city supports them.
Advertisers are demanding refunds because of the low ratings.
